SysOpsLab
SysOpsLab is a personal project space where I build and refine tools for Systems, Network, and Security operations. It isn’t a company or a commercial product. It’s a place to experiment, test ideas, and create practical utilities shaped by real troubleshooting and real environments.
The goal is straightforward:
make life easier for the people who keep infrastructure running.
The core of the project is the SecOpsNet Suite, a collection of tools designed to bring clarity to diagnostics, security assessments, network visibility, and system health. Everything is built with technicians and administrators in mind – clean layouts, readable outputs, and workflows that match how people actually work.
About Me
My work with systems began in the mid‑90s, back when Novell NetWare was still common and the internet was only starting to emerge. Active Directory didn’t exist yet, and most of the job involved understanding how things worked at a fundamental level. Those early years shaped how I approach technology today: stay curious, understand the architecture, and build solutions that people can rely on.
Over the last 30 years, I’ve supported environments across banking, universities, hospitality, shipping, camera manufacturing, payment processing, and healthcare. Each industry brought its own challenges and expectations, and each one reinforced the value of clear thinking, dependable engineering, and practical security.
My experience spans the full stack: building and maintaining desktops and laptops, supporting client and server applications, managing Windows and Linux systems, working with virtualization platforms, handling networking and infrastructure, and managing vulnerabilities and security operations. Before moving fully into IT, I was a licensed Electronics and Communications Engineer, and that background still shapes how I approach troubleshooting and technical problem‑solving. I’m also a registered Electrical Appliance Serviceperson in New Zealand and I’m formalising my cybersecurity background through ongoing study, currently holding CompTIA CySA+, Security+, CSAP, and ISC2 CC certifications.
Outside of work, I stay connected to the hardware side of technology. I repair anything with an electronics board and enjoy microsoldering and troubleshooting. I also like experimenting with small projects using Arduino, ESP32, and Raspberry Pi. Anything that blends hardware, firmware, and problem‑solving tends to draw me in.
SysOpsLab brings all of these interests together. It reflects the tools, ideas, and workflows I’ve refined throughout my career. It’s a place to build, explore, and share solutions that support the people who keep systems running.
